The right to freedom of expression is a fundamental human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and is recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Article 19 of the International Covenant states that: “Everyone has the right to hold opinions without interference” and that “everyone has the right to freedom of expression.

We hope, in the southern group, that the statement made by the acting US ambassador is not a response to the peaceful demonstrations that took place in southern cities, as this contradicts these basic rights and contradicts the position of the United States of America as a country that sponsors freedoms.

الحق في حرية التعبير هو ركيزة اساسية من حقوق الإنسان بموجب المادة رقم 19 من الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان ويعترف به في القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان في العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية.
حيث تنص المادة 19 من العهد الدولي ان : " لكل إنسان حق في اعتناق آراء دون مضايقة" وأنه "لكل إنسان حق في حرية التعبير.
ويشمل التظاهر السلمي والتعبير عن الرأي السياسي هذا الحق ولا يستثنية.
نرجوا في المجموعة الجنوبية ان لايكون التصريح الذي جاء على لسان القائمة باعمال السفير الامريكي كرد على المظاهرات السلمية التي شهدتها مدنا جنوبية فهذا يناقض هذه الحقوق الأساسية وينافي مكانة الولايات المتحدة الامريكية كدولة راعية للحريات
