At the fifty-third session of the Human Rights Council, The delegation of The Southern Group of the Human Rights Council met this evening with the Second Secretary for Political Affairs and Human Rights of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mrs. “Lieke Brand.”
During this, the group’s delegation reviewed a detailed report on the spread of land and sea mines and the increasing number of victims at a time when the international community is talking about achieving peace, while Hodeidah Governorate is experiencing human suffering, the absence of services, the interruption of salaries, and the lack of the most necessities of life.
Brand confirmed that there is a Dutch project to train a group of dogs to sense mines and participate in the mine clearance process in Yemen and that the solution to this issue requires the international community to pressure the Houthis to hand over maps of mines and stop planting them, as they are considered war crimes in which their perpetrators are brought to trial.

أستعرض خلالها وفد المجموعة تقرير مفصل حول إنتشار الألغام الأرضية والبحرية وتزايد عدد الضحايا في الوقت الذي يتحدث فيه المجتمع الدولي عن تحقيق سبل السلام فيما تعيش محافظة الحديدة معاناة إنسانية وغياب الخدمات وانقطاع الرواتب وإنعدام أبسط مقومات الحياة.
من جانبها أكدت براند أن هناك مشروع هولندي لتدريب مجموعة من الكلاب لاستشعار الالغام وإشاركها في عملية نزع الألغام في اليمن ، وأن الحل في في هذه القضية يتطلب على المجتمع الدولي الضغط على الحوثيين لتسليم خرائط الألغام وإيقاف زراعتها كونها تعد من جرائم الحرب التي يُقدم فيها مرتكبوها للمحاكمة.
